T O P I C R E V I E WMachodocSince this involves a question about autographs, I decided to post here, although it could have as easily been put up on the "Model" forum. My quandry is this: I've been going back and forth on whether or not to bring the third stage segment of my 1/48th Nick Proach Saturn V to the show for autographs. On the one hand, it would be really cool to have it signed by the men who actually flew it, but on the other hand there's something to be said for a pristine white 8-foot tall work of beauty. To borrow a phrase favored by Abraham Lincoln, I'm "up in the air" about this, and any perspectives would be much appreciated!Steve4trFor what it's worth, I say leave it at home. Not only will it no longer be pristine if you have it signed, it will always be "incomplete." If, somehow, your Saturn V is not a generic model but has some detail that identifies it with a specific mission, then maybe having it signed by one or more of the crew would make sense. Even then, I'd think twice about transforming an elegant 8' model into a vehicle for displaying autographs.Just my two cents.EdmjanovecI agree. Leave the big boy as it is. That model is impressive for it's size and detail. It doesn't need signatures to make it stunning. It already is.Collect signatures on your smaller model. It will be easier to transport and will look better covered in signatures. Then you'll have the best of both worlds...a small model covered in sigs and a large model that is pristine. MoonpawsI have to agree with the others. In addition, the more you move it, the more Murphy is likely to show up at your door. mslekarNick's work is awesome, I personally would never have mine signed, however you might consider having the base signed. I chose a black base for that reason and the silver pens look good. MikeRob JoynerSteve,Because the model is round some autographs would probably end up on opposite sides, making it a walk-a-round display.I'd put that Proach in the corner of a room and have the autographed photos you'll get at the show matted & framed and hang them vertically next to it on both walls. That would make for a very nice display and give you the option of rearrangement in the future.Take care,RobMachodocThe base! Now, why didn't I think of that? What a great idea, which was staring me in the face, but was too obvious for me to see it!Thanks!Steve

Just my two cents.
